Course objectives:
The student has primarily an intellectual approach to the topic: he acquires general knowledge about the management of systems, and knowledge about the conceptualization, organization and management of the prison system in the Republic of Croatia and other countries. It also introduces the practical projects of the International Center for Prison Studies regarding prison management in the context of human rights, and an ethical context that respects the humanity of everyone involved in the prison: prisoners, prison staff and visitors. By preparing a seminar paper, presenting it and leading (participating in) discussion groups, the student is directed to self-education, literature search, field research, comparison of different concepts and practical solutions, and the development of critical thinking. In addition to related cases, this case significantly facilitates the movement of future professionals who will work in the prison system.

Learning outcomes
- Gain basic knowledge in the field of management
- Analyze the Croatian prison system
- Compare the Croatian prison system with other prison systems
- Propose improvements based on comparative analyzes of different prison and penitentiary management styles and other prison systems

Assessment methods: The exam is taken exclusively in writing
