Description:
Aims of the subject:
To teach students on master level about concept of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), term complex communication needs, different classifications and possibilities for AAC implementation. The aim is to enable students to recognize needs for AAC implementation with child/person, to independently adjust and use low technology and high technology devices for communication and to organize support in environment.

Subject content elaborated in detail according to the weekly schedule:
1. To describe augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
2. To describe complex communication needs and AAC users
3. To know about contemporary AAC tools (low technology and high technology)
4. To describe language development and literacy in the context of AAC
5. To select appropriate vocabulary for AAC systems
6. To explain various types of visual support
7. To decide comeptently about use of spcific type of AAC for users
8. To apply competently noncommercial softver solutions
9. To create individualized material for improving communication and language development
10. To conduct and organize support for AAC user in preschool and school setting
