On the occasion of International Cochlear Implant Day, a panel discussion entitled “Contemporary Cochlear Implantation – Challenges and Their Possible Solutions” was held at the University of Zagreb, organized by the Department of Hearing Impairments at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The panel discussion aimed to provide insight to current and future professionals – students of the University of Zagreb, members of alumni associations, professionals who work with cochlear implant users, and the interested public – into the current standards of cochlear implantation services, as well as the habilitation and rehabilitation of communication, language, listening, and speech for hard-of-hearing and deaf individuals in the Republic of Croatia.
The panel participants presented the latest examples of good practice in the field of cochlear implantation. Croatia has a highly successful cochlear implantation program, whose quality is maintained through collaboration and networking among professionals. Therefore, this symposium focuses on current cochlear implantation services and on the habilitation of listening and spoken communication in Croatia, with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience and strengthening professional cooperation.
