Course objectives:
Acquisition of knowledge about different methods of complementary supportive therapies in the field of education and rehabilitation.

Specific learning outcomes:
1. to recognize the basic theoretical and practical determinants of different methods of complementary therapies
2. to select appropriate methods of complementary therapies according to the specific condition or clinical features
3. to apply basic approaches within different methods of complementary therapies

Course content and topics:
a) Historical development, effects and classification of complementary therapies
b) Aromatherapy
c) Massage
d) Shiatsu
e) Reflexology
f) Nutrition and modern diets in supporting psychophysical balance
d) Beekeeping and apitherapy
h) Animal assisted therapy
i) Breathing and progressive muscle relaxation
j) Biofeedback
k) Meditation and guided imagination
l) Expressive art therapies

Assessment and evaluation of students work:
a) written exam within two colloquia, colloquia are mandatory
b) written seminar paper and presentation of seminar paper.
