Description:
Learning outcomes:
  1. Explain the neuro-physiological and socio-cognitive foundations of communication, language, reading and writing.
  2. Describe the typical communication and speech-language development and the acquisition of reading and writing (pre)skills.
  3. Describe the effects of risk factors for language, reading and writing difficulties.
  4. Conduct screening in the areas of language, reading and writing.
  5. Explain the characteristics of the teaching process in teaching children with difficulties in language, reading and writing.
  6. Describe the criteria for determining features of beginning reading, automatized process of reading and difficulties of these processes at the level of technique, comprehension and fluency, taking into account possible causes of difficulties.
  7. Define the features of dyslexia and dysgraphia. Interpret the importance of language components for certain aspects of reading and writing and apply them to the development of intervention procedures.
  8. Plan and monitor the effects of intervention procedures for dyslexia and dysgraphia in the field of speech and langugage therapy in accordance with ethical principles.
