The aim of the course is to expand the basic vocabulary acquired at HZJ 1, and to develop production skills, content understanding, as well as interactive communication in HZJ. Students will acquire basic knowledge of sign language phonology structure. They will be introduced to the history of Deaf Community and Deaf Culture.

Students will:
- show an appropriate level of HZJ vocabulary and grammar knowledge, and show awareness and respect to the community and culture of the Deaf
- understand and interpret the contents on various topics presented in HZJ, as well as to convey different information, concepts and ideas for different purposes in HZJ
- distinguish and define the main features of HZJ phonology
- apply transcription rules in sign languages
