Projects

The Laboratory is financed by a number of research and professional projects, national and international. In the national projects the research is oriented toward topics relevant for the advances in psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics closely related to the structure of Croatian, introduction of the new methodologies and development of various test instruments.

  1. Language processing in Croatian (MZOŠ 013008)
  2. Acquisition of Croatian in cross-linguistic perspective: psycho- and neurolinguistic approach (MZOŠ 0013002)
  3. Higher cortical functions and language: developemtnal and acquired impairments (MZOS 013-0131484-1488)
  4. Langauge development and language impairments in cross-linguistic context (Foundation of the Croatian academy of sciences, HAZU)

In the international projects the emphasis is on the cross-linguistic research in a number of languages in which the application of the same research methodology provides typological insight into the phenomena related to language development and language impairments and reveal universal and language specific traits of the phenomena that are being studied.

  • Language development and communicative abilities of the pre-school children, Croatian-Slovenian project

Professional projects are aimed at the application of the gained knowledge. Namely, the knowledge acquired in our research often remains isolated. It is not available to the population that should be its „users“. The professional projects should bridge this gap; they are an efficient way of applying the results of our research in terms of introducing changes in teaching, therapy practices or diagnostics.

The three professional projects are aimed at achieving these goals by introducing new curricula to our educational system, on the level of elementary schools and on the university level.
